    Why bother?, January 12, 2013

You can buy this replacement probe for ten bucks plus shipping – which is advertised as “two to three weeks”. Or you can get a new thermometer for a little over $14.00. This is a no brainer in my opinion.

Probes die when wet, February 17, 2013

The product warnings about not immersing the probe in water are accurate – I use mine for temperature readings in my beer mash, and I’ve killed at least two probes so far. The only thing I can attribute it to is the probe getting water inside the metal where the wire enters it.
I’m going to try pumping the opening with silicone caulk this time.

    Doesn’t Work, November 18, 2013

I don’t know if I read the model number wrong, or if I’ve got a bad probe, or if my thermometer is just broken… But it isn’t reading right any more. I’m kicking myself now – I could’ve bought a whole new thermometer for just a few dollars more than I paid for this replacement probe, and it’d probably be working.
