OK to Wake! Children's Alarm Clock and Nightlight

OK to Wake, glows a soft yellow in the evening and turns green in the morning at the time parent’s specify. Kids take pride in waiting for the green light before they come visit mom and dad with the knowledge of a job well-done. This ingenious product is a life-saver for sleep-deprived parents for whom every extra moment of sleep is a luxury. Kid-friendly shape, parent-friendly design – kids love pressing the fun “toe” buttons which invoke funny facial animations on the LCD. Cleverly concealed parental control panel provides access to clock settings and instructions. Handy “Nap Timer” allows parents to put kids down for a nap without disrupting other settings. For older kids who want to get up “on their own”, OK to Wake. is also an alarm clock with Snooze function – just like mom and dad’s. Comes with both green bug and pink flower face plates for a boy or a girl. Operates on 4 AA batteries (not included), no power adapter needed. Easy to set up and use.

Its cousin clock is far superior, April 8, 2010

This review is from: OK to Wake! Children’s Alarm Clock and Nightlight (Baby Product)
I bought this clock for my 2 1/2 year old because she gets up at odd hours and I wanted a visual clue to tell her when it was OK to get up. That part works. However, my 4-year-old son has the “Teach Me Time” clock by this same company, and it offers the same functionality and SO MUCH MORE.

The things wrong with this clock are:
    — No plug-in option, so when the batteries fade so does its usefulness.
    — The nightlight is not very bright and it turns off quickly … this is true of the Teach Me Time clock, but when plugged in it is not an issue for whatever reason.
    — The time part is not illuminated, so while my daughter can tell it is OK to get up, she can’t see what time it is. After being used to her brother’s clock, this disappoints both of them.

I only bought this clock because the other one was sold out everywhere. While it does the sleep job, I was overall disappointed and would tell any prospective buyers to go for the other option if available.

Taught my daughter to sleep, January 4, 2012

This review is from: OK to Wake! Children’s Alarm Clock and Nightlight (Baby Product)
What this is perfect for: Kids too young to read a clock who don’t sleep long enough.
What this is NOT: A nightlight.

Our 18 month old was getting up at 5 am or earlier. And her naps were 20mins long. We bought this clock and she figured it out on day one. That doesn’t mean it didn’t take a few days of putting her back to bed so she knew we were serious. (The worst is when there is only a couple mins to go, but consistency is the key!) She now naps (or plays quietly in her bed) at least and hour and a half and doesn’t get up until her clock is green at 6am. And now that getting up at 6 and coming into my bed no longer means she is going back to sleep, I am pushing the time forward a little every day so she gets the rest she needs.

No, it’s not bright. But the green is plenty bright enough for her to see WITHOUT waking her up. (The point is to let her know she CAN get up, not to wake her up. There is an alarm for waking her if she ever needed it.)

However, the “nightlight” is perfect for sneaking into her room to check on her. It’s bright enough that I can make sure she is under the covers without waking her up.

We have had this for almost a year. It’s only required 2 battery changes. If you try to leave the nightlight on, you will run the batteries down pretty quick. But I repeat, it’s NOT a nightlight. (And they should stop marketing it as one. That might help the reviews.)

A few older reviews mention the feet don’t turn off. This is not true of this clock. (Maybe it is of the plug in teaching version or maybe it’s something they changed.)

I do agree it might be nice if the clock was backlit, but since DD is too young to read the clock, that’s really more for me. Once she can/wants to read a clock, she won’t need a green light to tell her she can get up.

Saved me from my early riser! Life changing!, December 29, 2014

This product has saved my life. My daughter (22 months) has been a terrible sleeper since birth. First I could never put her down (so I slept sitting up), then when I finally got her in a crib, she would wake up multiple times a night. Even when she started sleeping more steadily, she would wake up at 4AM. Everyday. Sometimes earlier. And she wouldn’t just wake up and chill by herself – she would immediately start crying, wanting me to come get her. I would cry out of exhaustion. I looked up ideas online to get her to stay in her crib for longer, and I found this! Thank GOD. I’m not even joking, it took her about a week to understand what the light meant, and now she stays asleep until 5:30, when I have the light set for. She usually wakes up earlier than that, but I watch her on the monitor, and she just peeks over at the clock, sees its not lit, and lies back down again. And when it does light up, she just stands there, calmly waiting for me to come get her. AMAZING. This is literally groundbreaking for us. I figured someone else might be able to relate to my story, and invest in this amazing product too. You won’t be sorry.
