    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: LG Electronics LW6015ER Energy Star 6000 BTU 115-volt Window-Mounted Air Conditioner with Remote Control (Misc.)
I purchased this air conditioner because of all the mostly good reviews I read on the internet. My experience may have been different, had this unit not been purchased for my bedroom. The good… it cooled like mad! It cooled very well, but this is where the good stopped for me. The specs of this unit says that it will fit a window that is 36″ wide. It will not!!! My window measures exactly 36″. I stretched the sides out to the point that the plastic around the screws that hold the accordion-like expandable panels were on the verge of breaking, and the screws were ready to pull right out of the sheet metal, and I still had over an inch on each side to go. I installed a board on each side of the window to make the fit. At this point I was disappointed, but this was not a deal breaker. Next… turning it on. At first everything seemed ok, but after a few minutes I started noticing how loud the compressor was when it cycled on. Then the rattles started. First the filter started rattling. Then the hinged filter door started rattling. I have some sticky backed foam pieces that I started placing between the door and the filter. This seemed to do the trick. After going to bed I was awakened by severe rattling noises. After some investigation I found that the air conditioner was causing the pictures on the wall to vibrate. This was not isolated to just the room it was in. The same thing was happening in the next room over, every time the compressor cycled on. I quickly adjusted everything that was rattling and went back to bed. While laying there my teeth loosely touched, and started rattling together, and at that moment the air conditioner itself started rattling again! It was at that moment that I decided that enough was enough! I jumped out of bed to turn it off and sent it back the very next day. The vibrations it emitted was not so easily felt by placing a hand on the unit, but was more of a low frequency resonance that just caused everything to vibrate. Maybe this unit was just a dud. I have since replaced this with a different brand, and have not had any adverse issues. I also thought that part of the description was deceptive. On the LG site, it says that the vent has two way adjustment. I assumed that this meant vertical and horizontal. Wrong! This meant left and right. There is no up and down adjustment. It is fixed. This was another down side of using in a bedroom. I could not adjust it from constantly blowing across me.

Let me start by saying I’m a deep sleeper. I have fallen asleep in the dentist’s chair while he was going to town in my mouth!! You get the picture. This unit is loud enough to keep me up. The outer shroud seems to be the issue. I’m a construction worker so I just figured I’d fix whatever was making the shroud vibrate so loudly. After WAY too much time I came to the conclusion the only way to rectify the situation was to affix a large 12″ clamp to the front vertically from the bottom of the unit to the top. This dropped the decibel level from 65 to about 54 at about 4 feet away. When I have 2 minutes I will be returning this at some point. It cools the room perfectly but really weirds me out when trying to sleep!

Just bought it from home depot. It works like charm. Its really cool. my room is about 200 sq ft. it takes a bit of time to cool but once it is cool it is really nice. I like the digital and remote control. its so easy to fit in a window. I was worried about it. but its so simple does not need any additional stand or accessories. all included.

if you are on budget but want to cool a medium sized room. look no further this will cool your room very well.
