Nice look above a stove, May 5, 2015

Had this model 4 years then had to replace the magnetron tube at a cost of around 230 dollars, but microwave works well and look is awesome. No fingerprint surface wonderfull. I have all fridaire products in my kitchen for about 8 years, all great but have to get sonething fixed every 3 to 4 years but I’ve had the same problem with more expensive models so I’m ok with that.. My old microwave is a countertop about 20 years old and never a repair needed..

But honestly nobody makes them like that anymore, and no it’s not self venting, have to put an outside vent in,

Lookswise love having the microwave above the stove, but sort of sorry I did it because suction is not as good as a regular stove vent, and microwave doesn’t extend enough to the front of our stove, steams hits the front of the microwave. But we like the look so don’t care, while cooking I put a piece of cardboard and stick it under microwave keeping this from happening..

But I assume this happens in all microwaves above a stove cause the size is the same as others..

We have a slider stove, same brand FYI, don’t know if it matters or not.

wife and I discussed putting an oven vent above instead of microwave but we just don’t like the look, so we stick with the microwave above the stove and are very happy with it.

Don’t understand the bad reviews, I got the whole gallery line up, the fridge hasn’t needed repair yet, knock on wood lol, the stove no repairs yet, ditto, dishwasher been great, so out of the 4 gallery products we had for the last 4 years since we remodeled the kitchen only the microwave had a repair, so far. I got the 4 year extended warranty for all but the microwave, cause the microwave was under 300 dollars and warranty was 99 dollars, didn’t seem to make sense, if I buy the warranty, nothing breaks, if I don’t, have a repair, lol go figure, these are good products and don’t need cleaned everyday, and real stainless steel with a fingerprint coating, I didn’t see any others with these features, so my opinion is I’d buy again np.

But for stove and fridge buy an extended warranty if under 200 dollars which I would with any stove or fridge I buy cause repairs are expensive, Ty and gl

No reason to purchase this microwave!, August 22, 2015

This Microwave is part of a line of completely worthless and pathetic appliances. Disposable microwave. We bought the micro, ref, and gas range…the dishwasher had a 1 1/2 star rating that we noticed after we first bought all four units. We canceled the dishwasher but foolishly and EXPENSIVELY purchased the remaining three. The service people were called out three times with nothing but excuses and fixes that lasted a few weeks to a couple weeks. We figured we were moving in a year so we didn’t bother wasting more of our time. Their “windows” of service where ridiculous and forced us to end up taking four days off work for three visits. Why four…because one of the days they were supposed to be here between 10 and 2…….their technician called in sick which we didn’t find out until 3:30 when they finally returned out call from 2:00 on the dot.

This microwave looks great…the features seem decent enough. The problem is that the door latch broke loose inside the door which cannot be serviced…only replaced…the lowest bid from two local repair companies…..$260 bucks…this piece of garbage sells NEW on Amazon for $299.99.

We considered buying it again because it matches the other appliances (ALL have major problems that either cant be fixed or cost nearly as much as a new unit) but here is no way I can let myself screw over the next owners as we have our house listed for sale. We are spending $125 more on a microwave that has a proven record…unfortunately it is also from the Electrolux Corporation that makes SOOOO many brands of appliances.

I remodel kitchens for a living and I steer ALL clients away from the Frigidaire Gallery line of appliances. The problem with today’s appliances isn’t unique to low, middle or high end appliances. As far as service after the sale..they all suck. Don’t buy “newer” models until folks have had time to review then after YEARS of use. I have a kitchen I did for a couple that spent nearly $25,000 on their Jenn-Air ovens, stove, refrigerator, dishwashers, and under counter ice machine. Every single one has had the repair guy out at least once…the two double ovens they bought…SEVEN visits, THREE control boards and underwhelming performance forced this couple to upgrade their entire kitchen to Viking…..not sure how much but probably in the realm of $40,000.

My washing machine went out and I was looking at spending $1,200 until I looked at Consumer Reports…they rated mine high…but they rated a $350 top load machine higher…how could this be? My wife and I hate the front load machines so we decided this economy machine might work….We got it and WOW, it is great. Quiet, efficient and gets clothes clean for a family of six people. Its a GE ?RM1865….?

Ramble, ramble, ramble….sorry! I have this microwave(now broken) and instead just buying the same one and pushing it onto the next owners of my house, I will spend $125 more so they don’t have the same POS to deal with in two years. I will have to drill new mounting holes and install a new hanging plate on the back of the wall to boot! That’s how much I DON’T recommend this or any other Gallery garbage!

One more thing…this thing sounds like a Cessna throttling up for takeoff if you turn on the exhaust fan…..we used it a few times at the beginning, but it is just top loud.

    Handle won’t be covered on day 1. It’s cosmetic…, October 13, 2015

I made the mistake of buying the Frigidaire Gallery series for my kitchen. After only 1 year and two months the bottom of the handle on this piece of garbage came off and I can hear cheap plastic rattling around inside the door like sand on a STAINLESS appliance! I thought perhaps it’s still under warranty or they could make an exception to actually stand behind their product and contacted customer service. I gave them a call and found out not only is it no longer under warranty, but a handle used to open and close the door is considered a COSMETIC issue and wouldn’t have been covered on day 1 if it broke then! Let me help you here Frigidaire, here are some definitions for you:
    func·tion·al
    ˈfəNG(k)SH(ə)n(ə)l/
    adjective
    1.
of or having a special activity, purpose, or task; relating to the way in which something works or operates.

    Examples Word Origin
    adjective
    1.
used or done superficially to make something look better, more attractive, or more impressive.
Last time I checked, I needed the handle to open the microwave door. So by definition, this is considered functional. This is a cop-out made by Frigidaire to make money. If you think I’ll ever buy Frigidaire again, you’re insane. I’ll be telling everyone I know to avoid you at all costs and put this review everywhere possible because you can’t stand behind your product.
