The Trilogy is a beast and has been put to the ultimate test when catastrophe stuck our house …, November 8, 2015

Initially I wanted the Trilogy Super-Light vac because my Miele is rather heavy. I primarily have hardwood flooring and thought the Bissell would be perfect. I have the Symphony, Bissell’s steam cleaner and was so pleased with that, it’s why not? The Trilogy certainly is lightweight, something I wanted, but I certainly didn’t expect to put it to a real test. I mean this thing is a beast in more ways than one, something I do appreciate.

We had an extreme power surge that destroyed everything from appliances to televisions and lamps. The surge was tremendous and the destruction crazy to say the least. All the wiring, including the television cable, needed to be replaced. Needless to say, there have been crews of workpeople inside the house working. Along with them comes the dirt. Piles of dirt, dust, and grunge need to be attacked on a daily basis.

The Bissell Trilogy and I are in the middle of the process with a couple more weeks to go. The dirt comes up from the dirt basement, it’s tracked inside on those work boots, and I still have pets (fortunately). The Bissell is not only intuitive to put together, but intuitive to work. I’m filling up that canister on a continual basis, trying to keep up with the mess. I just walk over to the dustbin and empty it. No bags to contend with.

When I’m working on a floor (or carpet), the power foot swivels, snagging that dirt nicely along the edges of the wall. An electrician used my Dirt Devil one day and frankly, it didn’t cut it with me (the power foot clogged). I redid the room, which does have carpeting, again that night. The swiveling is perfect because I can get those odd pieces of dirt or dust easily. I do have a Black and Decker dustbuster, but the Bissell is like a two-fer. I get both a lightweight vac and a handheld one.

I’ve been pushing the Bissell to the limit in the work department, but it’s holding up nicely. Not so sure about me, but we’re keeping up. If the Bissell is a performer in an ultimate marathon of cleaning, it certainly will work well in a “normal” household setting. My opinion of it? It’s awesome and I’d definitely recommend it. My only quibble was that the dustbuster-like part is a bit large. Trust me, the Trilogy is a performer than anyone who wants a clean house will be happy with.

I was worried the motor on the hand held portion would make the vacuum heavy and awkward but it’s not at all!

    Long cord
    Very effective suction
Easy to empty container (you can reach in to remove clumps – most vacuum dirt cups are so narrow its hard to get trapped debris out)
    Easy to change parts
    Great edge cleaning

None so far. Will update if I find any issues

Wonderful stick vac with some minor design flaws., November 9, 2015

I got this to review through the Amazon Vine program. This is a very nice vacuum that has a couple design issues that could be better. It does work wonderfully on hardwood floors and area rugs (low pile ones).

The vacuum comes with the main powerhead, a glider head with a cloth on it for cleaning hardwood floors, a duster attachment and a crevice tool. The vacuum was very easy to put together and use.

The cord is very long which was awesome; I cleaned my whole downstairs without having to unplug it. The powerhead has a beater brush on it that can be turned on and off; when this is off it works great to clean hard surfaces, when this is on it works great to clean low pile carpet. The vacuum is much quieter than other stick vacs I have used, it is a bit louder with the beater brush on…but still remarkably quiet.

I really like the hardwood floor glider attachment as well. This has an area for suction and then a cloth pad behind it; the cloth pad is easily removed and washable. It works great with the Bona hardwood floor cleaner I use on my floors.

There are a couple of design issues. The vacuum is incredibly top heavy which makes it awkward to use. It does not stand up on its own (there are felt pads on the back of the handle so it won’t mark up your walls and they do include a mount for you wall).

Additionally to empty the container with the dirt in it is a bit of a pain because you have to unwrap the cord and actually pull the handheld portion off the extender, then you can hold it over a trash can and empty it. It would have been much nicer if there was a way to remove the container without having to detach the extender and unwrap all that cord.

Lastly there isn’t a place to put the hardwood floor glider head or the crevice tool; so I will probably misplace and/or lose those in no time.

Overall this works very well and I think it will be very useful for cleaning our hardwood floors. I think I will probably still use the Electrolux 2-in-1 Handheld Vacuum that I have more because, even though it doesn’t clean quite as well, it’s lighter and easier to use.

    – Does an excellent job cleaning
    – Beater bar does an excellent job on low pile rugs
    – Easy to put together and change heads
    – Love the hardwood floor glider cleaning attachment
    – Very quiet
    – Long cord

    – Very top heavy which makes it awkward to use and makes it so that it cannot stand up on its own
    – Dirt container is inconvenient to empty (you have to take off the extender and unwind the cord to get to it).
    – No place to put the crevice tool or glider attachment on the vacuum itself.
